Assistant Manager, System Reimbursement (Healthcare):

Serves as coordinator of System Hospital Reimbursement reporting to the Director, System Hospital Reimbursement, including coordinating assessment of proposed and implemented changes to Medicare and Medicaid regulations. Designs & implements reimbursement policies and procedures and coordinates significant changes as it relates to these areas. Coordinates and prepares System analysis and financial impacts and commentary on proposed and final Medicare regulations.

Keeps abreast of all standards and regulations to assure compliance with orders or directions issued by government regulatory agencies including all health care reform initiatives. Researches current regulatory issues and routinely communicates same to reimbursement staff. Educates staff as needed.

Must be experienced in project management, detail-oriented, and possess the ability to work in a dynamic, fast paced environment. Must be able to read and understand complex governmental regulations.

Maintains confidentiality of information.

Performs duties to support the goals and objectives of the Health System in its efforts to provide quality patient care and patient satisfaction.


Major Duties & Responsibilities:

*Coordinates system research for newly enacted or proposed hospital Medicare and Medicaid regulatory changes for assigned areas of responsibility which include but are not limited to inpatient and outpatient prospective rates, disproportionate share, and health care reform initiatives. Coordinates evaluation of potential impacts.

*Coordinates, develops and prepares System commentary of proposed Medicare regulations.

*Assumes a leadership/planning role with regard to Governmental payer reimbursement within the Geisinger Health System.

*Maintains expert-level knowledge of all governmental payer activities and analyzes the impact of
any regulatory changes. Keeps abreast of all appropriate laws, regulations and standards and communicates same to reimbursement staff. Includes federal and state budget impacts.

*Works with reimbursement staff in developing reimbursement strategies.

*Coordinates all Medicare cost report appeals and ensures appropriate paperwork is filed on a timely basis. Communicates as needed to consultant or outside counsel.

*Coordinate monthly reimbursement meetings with GMC and GNE staff.

*Research and analysis of reimbursement aspects related to Quality and VBP for all payors and other health care reform initiatives.

*Manages projects as assigned. Maintains project management documentation, including project plans, issues lists, decisions documents, system setup requirements, flow documents, and comprehensive audit documentation.

*Supervises and coordinates work efforts of team members for completion of project tasks.

*Creates and maintains policies, procedures, summaries and checklists for all areas of responsibility.

*Routinely and proactively keeps Director abreast of key issues.

*Develops and maintains cooperative, collaborative and productive, team-driven relationships between the department and management throughout the System.

*Maintains confidentiality of data and adheres to HIPAA regulations.


Job Requirements:

*Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration or Accounting required.

*Masters degree in Business Administration or Healthcare Administration and/or HFMA certification preferred.

*Minimum of five years experience in both accounting and hospital reimbursement experience required. Minimum three years supervisory experience required.
